History
1972
Atlantic Management Corporation was founded by Richard J. Trifiro and Anthony G. Capobianco. The company aimed to be an investment vehicle for equity partners through the acquisition, development, and management of quality commercial real estate primarily in the Greater Boston area.
Mid-1980s
A variety of properties were acquired and sold by Atlantic via individual syndications, which resulted in favorable returns for Atlantic’s original investors. Atlantic’s portfolio consisted of over 2,500 residential units and approximately 500,000 square feet of commercial property.
1988-1989
Irene Trifiro Gruber and David A. Capobianco joined Atlantic in an effort to reestablish the company in the Greater Boston commercial real estate investment market.
Early 1990s
Despite the headwinds of a depressed commercial real estate market, Atlantic grew its portfolio to over 1.75 million square feet of commercial space, built the management company back up, and was once again active in the commercial real estate investment market.
1994
Joseph L. Zink joined Atlantic and was named President/CEO of the company. Under Joe’s leadership, Atlantic repositioned many of its existing assets, developed new sites, and continued acquisitions of value-added and income-producing investment opportunities for its equity partners. With the help of Joe’s strong commercial broker network and numerous Chapter 1031 Tax Deferred exchanges, Atlantic was able to diversify its investment risk while increasing capital growth for investors.
2006
John S. Sullivan joined Atlantic Management as Senior Vice President of Development & Construction.
2009
Atlantic commenced a 3-year period of over 1 million square feet of commercial property acquisitions, bringing the company’s total portfolio to 3.5 million square feet.
2015
Atlantic received the Boston Business Journal’s Deal of the Year award for its lease with GE Healthcare (now Cytiva) at Atlantic’s Marlborough Hills property.
2017
Atlantic received the prestigious Landlord of the Year award from the Commercial Brokers Association (CBA) Boston chapter, as well as the Company to Watch award from the Westborough Economic Development Committee.
2020
Atlantic sold its property located at 135 American Legion Highway in Revere, MA, which was deemed the largest US industrial sale of 2020.
2022
Atlantic celebrated its 50-year anniversary milestone of owning and operating commercial real estate property in the Greater New England market.
2023
David Capobianco stepped down from his position as Atlantic’s Chief Operating Officer (COO)/General Counsel and Kevin R. Bernier joined Atlantic as the company’s new COO and General Counsel.
2024
Irene Gruber stepped down from her role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Ann M. Doherty stepped into the role of Atlantic’s Treasurer and CFO.
Today
Atlantic has grown to 23 employees who oversee asset and facility management, construction and development, investor relations, finance and accounting. The Atlantic portfolio now exceeds over 5 million square feet of industrial, life science, lab, manufacturing, R&D, and residential property in the Greater New England and Southeast US regions.
